SICI Webinar – Remote teaching and learning

TEAMS, 18 FEBRUARY 2021 (15.00 – 16.40 CET)

Attached you can find both presentations!

Dear SICI colleagues and guests,

SICI is glad to invite members to a webinar on remote teaching and learning on Thursday February 18 at 15.00-16.40 CET. The webinar will be held over Teams.

In all countries we are dealing with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on education. In several countries schools had to be closed and pupils/students are currently being educated remotely.
In this webinar we will take a closer look at difficulties and challenges that schools, colleges and teachers face in doing so and what is known in research about remote education.

Donna Neill, Head of Research at Ofsted, will present the findings from several pieces of work in the latter half of 2020 that bring together teachers and parents’ views on what works well in remote education, as well as some top tips from leaders and experts in England on overcoming some of the common barriers to teaching remotely.

The Dutch inspectorate currently does research about opportunities and challenges of remote education.
The project leader, Daniella Nicolaes, discusses how the project came about, what the objectives are (an external and an internal goal) and how the research is currently being conducted.
The inspectorate works closely with the University of Maastricht. The findings that were collected in the first phase at 46 schools are also discussed.
We will hear about the first experiences with observing remote lessons.
